Kick off Session and First Sprint
1625 Independent People working on Remote Access Communication: Weeknotes #1
The 26th of February marked the kickoff of our Definition Program, our digital partner Outlandish lead our session and after a brief Zoom glitch that had me in the waiting room for 20 minutes *face palm* I was able to introduce myself and our ambitions for the project.
We arrive at the Definition Programme after working with CAST previously on their Explore Program. I love the collaborative approach these programmes have and was pleased to meet so many like minded organisations. Our cohort is Remote Access Communication and while our user needs vary, we are all using similar tools to meet those needs, and I’m looking forward to learning from each other and problem solving together.

I’m in a smaller working group with the charities SLIDE: South London Inclusive Dance Experience and End Youth Homelessness. Being a member charity of End Youth Homelessness, it feels like a terrific fit to be working alongside them, and Kevin from SLIDE has already educated me on Zoom features and how to utilise them further!
I’m planning my sprints on Trello as I’ve got some experience using it and live for being able to move a task from ‘In Progress’ to ‘Complete’. Our first sprint is looking at off the shelf tools, I’m focusing on text broadcasting products and seeing if there is anything we can integrate into the products we already use. I’ve previously looked at WhatsApp Business but am wanting to find similar SMS services as well.
So for I’ve looked at:
- EE Enterprise
- Text Anywhere
- Twilio
- 360 SMS — A salesforce application
I sometimes fear I am searching for a unicorn product, but the more research I do the more I feel confident that it is possible to achieve what I need, just the avenue and process may be different.
